Privacy Policy

SportConnect Talent is designed to support privacy-conscious data practices. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and what rights you have over your information.

SportConnect Talent is operated by SportConnect Talent (referred to as “SportConnect Talent”, “we”, or “us”). Our platform is currently in a pilot phase, operating initially in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This policy applies to all users of sportconnecttalent.com and any associated mobile applications.

Last updated: May 2026. If we make significant changes to this policy, we will notify active users by email and post a notice on the platform.

We collect different categories of data depending on your account type and how you use the platform:

Account data

• Name, email address, and phone number (registration)
• Account type (athlete, coach, scout, club, parent, federation)
• Password (stored as a secure hash. never in plain text)
• Language preference and device locale

Athlete profile data

• Full name, display name, age, nationality, city
• Sport discipline, position, current club
• Physical attributes relevant to sport (height, weight, dominant foot. optional)
• Biography and self-description (optional)
• Match statistics, performance records, ranking points
• Trust score and verification status

Verification data

• Government-issued identification (for scouts, coaches, and club administrators)
• Federation affiliation documentation
• Club registration certificates
• Parental consent forms for athletes under 18

Verification documents are stored in encrypted form and reviewed by our trust team. They are not displayed publicly and are not shared with third parties without your explicit consent or a legal requirement.

Usage data

• Pages visited, search queries, and features used
• Contact requests sent and received
• Login timestamps and device type
• Error logs and diagnostic data

SportConnect Talent takes the protection of minor athletes extremely seriously. The following rules apply to all users under the age of 18:

• No athlete profile for a person under 18 may be made publicly visible without documented parental or legal guardian consent.
• Minor profiles are restricted from receiving direct contact requests from scouts or coaches. All outreach is routed through the verified parent or guardian account.
• We do not collect more personal data from minors than is necessary to operate their profile.
• Parents and guardians may request full deletion of a minor's account and all associated data at any time. see the Data Deletion section below.
• Club administrators who register minor athletes are responsible for obtaining and retaining signed parental consent forms before submitting profiles to SportConnect Talent.

If you believe a minor is being exposed to inappropriate contact or that their data is being used without proper consent, please contact us immediately at contact@sportconnecttalent.com (Contact Us).

Athletes and clubs may upload video content (match highlights, training footage) to their SportConnect Talent profiles. By uploading video content you confirm that:

• You own the footage or have permission from the rights holder to upload it.
• All individuals identifiable in the footage have consented to their inclusion, or are participating in a public sporting event.
• For footage containing minors, you have obtained parental consent for the minor's appearance.

Video content is reviewed by our moderation team before being made publicly visible. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these conditions or our Community Guidelines.

Videos are stored on secured servers. We do not sell, license, or distribute your video content to third parties without your explicit written consent. Scouts and clubs with verified accounts may view published highlights on the platform.

Verified scouts and clubs have access to the following athlete information on the public-facing platform:

• Display name, sport, position, age range, club, city, and country
• Trust score, verification status, and ranking position
• Performance statistics and match records
• Published video highlights
• Achievements and endorsements

The following athlete data is never exposed to scouts, clubs, or any other third party:

• Email address or phone number
• Home address or exact location
• Government ID or verification documents
• Parent or guardian contact information
• Private messages and contact request history

Contact with athletes is mediated through our platform messaging system. Scouts and clubs cannot obtain a direct phone number or email address through SportConnect Talent without the athlete's explicit acceptance of a contact request.

SportConnect Talent applies the following security measures to protect your data:

• All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
• Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt). We never store plain-text passwords.
• Verification documents are stored in encrypted object storage with access controls restricted to the trust team.
• Access to production databases is restricted to authorised personnel and requires multi-factor authentication.
• Our infrastructure is hosted on cloud providers with ISO 27001 certified data centres.
• We conduct periodic internal security reviews of our data-handling practices.

Despite these measures, no system is completely immune to security incidents. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you within a reasonable timeframe and take immediate remediation steps.

SportConnect Talent uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the platform, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the service is used. You can review the full details on our Cookie Policy page.

• Essential cookies. required for sign-in, session security, and core features. These cannot be switched off.
• Preference cookies. remember your language (English/French) and display settings.
• Analytics cookies. help us measure traffic and improve pages, aggregated where possible.
• Security cookies. help detect abuse and fraud and protect minors on the platform.

When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser at any time, though blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the platform from working. We do not sell personal data.

SportConnect Talent is designed to support GDPR-style privacy principles, including the following rights for all users:

• Right of access. you may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification. you may correct inaccurate data through your account settings or by contacting us.
• Right to erasure. you may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data (see below).
• Right to portability. you may request your data in a machine-readable format (CSV or JSON).
• Right to object. you may object to certain uses of your data, such as for platform analytics.
• Right to withdraw consent. where processing is based on consent (e.g. video uploads), you may withdraw consent at any time.

We are a growing platform and do not yet have a fully automated data portal. To exercise these rights, please contact us at contact@sportconnecttalent.com (Contact Us). We will respond within 30 days.

You may request full deletion of your SportConnect Talent account and all associated personal data at any time. To submit a deletion request:

• Email contact@sportconnecttalent.com from the address associated with your account, with the subject line “Account deletion request”.
• We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 30 days.
• Certain data may be retained for a limited period where required by law (e.g. financial transaction records).
• Anonymised, aggregated statistical data (e.g. total matches played in a region) may be retained as it cannot be linked back to you.

Parents and guardians may request deletion of a minor athlete's account using the same process. Club administrators may not delete athlete profiles on behalf of athletes. individual consent is required.

SportConnect Talent is designed to support compliance with privacy-protective legal frameworks, including:

• GDPR principles. lawfulness, fairness, transparency, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity and confidentiality, and accountability.
• African Union Malabo Convention. the AU Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection, providing a continental baseline for data protection.
• DRC data handling norms. SportConnect Talent operates in the DRC and applies appropriate standards for the handling of personal data of Congolese citizens.

We do not claim full legal compliance with every jurisdiction. If you have questions about how this policy interacts with local law, please seek independent legal advice. We are committed to improving our compliance posture as the platform matures.
